DISCOVER BEL AIR’S HISTORIC WALKING TOUR –

EXPLORE LIKE NEVER BEFORE!

The Town of Bel Air is proud to offer a glimpse into its rich history through the Historic Walking Tour. This self-guided tour invites residents and visitors to explore the town’s architectural heritage by visiting some of Bel Air’s most significant historic locations.

The tour features scenic 30-minute and 60-minute walks, showcasing beautifully preserved residences and buildings, each with its own unique story. Along the way, participants will learn about the Town’s development, notable residents, and architectural styles that define Bel Air’s charm. Whether walking in person or exploring virtually, the Historic Walking Tour is a wonderful way to connect with the Town of Bel Air’s past.

Bel Air currently has 52 locally designated historic properties determined to be culturally significant by the Bel Air Historic Preservation Commission. Many of these structures inhabit the Historic Walking Tour along with several properties inventoried by the Maryland Historic Trust and the National Historic Trust.

As art and history are deeply interconnected, the Historic Walking Tour is a perfect partner to our Public Art Tour, each illustrating the Town of Bel Air’s culture that values tradition, vibrancy, and civic pride.

The Historic Walking Tour story map will guide you along on your mobile device, or you can pick up a hard copy of the map at the Visitors’ Center located at 37 North Main Street in Armory Marketplace inside The Gallery at Harford Artists

The Historic Walking Tour was funded in part by a grant through Hello Harford County MD.
