On Saturday, April 12, the annual spring tradition of the Bel Air Kite Festival returns to the Rockfield Park Ball Fields from 10 am – 4 pm. Come and be dazzled by the skyline filled with kites of all colors while enjoying festive music and delicious food truck offerings, too. Free kites will be provided while supplies last, and we guarantee a full supply of fun for the whole family all day long. Attendance is FREE for this much-loved Town event! And what if it should rain? No worries! The Town is ready to go with a rain date on Sunday, April 13.
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; admission is free, and we will give out free kites — sponsored by APG Federal Credit Union — while supplies last. The packaging for the free kites will include a special insert paying tribute to the late co-founder of the Kite Festival, Allen E. Ault. Mr. Ault, who died in May of 2024 at the age of 88, founded the festival with Chris Schlehr, the Bel Air town administrator at the time, and Paul Hines, who died in 2007.
The first Kite Festival was held on April 15, 2006. For more information, call 410-638-4550 or visit www.belair.org.
