This August, be sure to visit the new art exhibit at the Bel Air Branch of the Harford County Public Library, which celebrates the Town of Bel Air and the 150th anniversary of its incorporation as a municipality.
Under the guidance of art teacher Carolyn Wolf, students of all ages at Emmorton Elementary School created an incredibly lifelike art installation depicting “A Starry Night in Bel Air” and the historic buildings and landmark businesses of Main Street. From the Bel Air Armory to the Harford County Courthouse and mainstay establishments like Buontempo Brothers and Sunny Day Café, the display, inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night, evokes a dreamy and nostalgic feeling for the townscape that has become the Heart of Harford.
As we commemorate the milestone of 150 years of the Town of Bel Air, we express our heartfelt thanks to the students of Emmorton Elementary for pouring their talents into this stunning project; and we thank Carolyn Wolf, who recently retired from her position, for encouraging and nurturing her students with opportunities to explore their creativity and express themselves through art.
“A Starry Night in Bel Air” will be on display until August 31 in the exhibit room of the Bel Air Branch of the Harford County Public Library, located at 100 E. Pennsylvania Avenue. The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours.
