Mark your calendar for the Belle Aire Market! The Bel Air Arts and Entertainment District welcomes a brand new event the second Sunday of each month May through October from 10am – 3pm at the Marketplace behind the Armory on Main Street.
The Belle Aire Market features crafters and artisans showcasing their handcrafted or vintage wares. According to coordinator Jenny Falcone, “The Belle Aire Market is a collaboration between The Bel Air Downtown Alliance, The Painted Mill and myself to attract people to all that beautiful Main Street Bel Air has to offer. ”
And attract people it did! The first Belle Aire Market, which was held on Mother’s Day, enjoyed a steady stream of people from the minute it opened and throughout the day. Visitors strolled from booth to booth making purchases, enjoying the live music and running into neighbors and friends. “The thing I love most about The Belle Aire Market,” continues Jenny, “is that it brings people together right in the heart of Bel Air. Yes, it is a place where you can shop for beautiful hand crafted items and timeless antiques but you also find yourself running into people you know. It makes shopping a social outing.”
The Belle Aire Market features items such as beautiful handcrafted jewelry, vintage hobnail glassware, handcrafted items inspired by music and instruments, handmade cashmere hats and scarves and ever popular Maryland flag items.
If the event on Mother’s Day was any indication, the Belle Aire Market is a great addition to Sundays in downtown Bel Air. Jenny shares, “This was our kickoff event and we’re excited about the upcoming markets which will feature more vendors. With each passing month, I believe it will grow and grow.” The next market will be held on June 12, 2016. You can learn more about the vendors and the upcoming dates on their facebook page or on the Downtown Alliance website.
