Bel Air Hosts Annual Kite Festival: Spring has sprung in Bel Air which means we are right around the corner from all kinds of great events! One of the great traditions for the Town is the annual Kite Festival held on the grounds of Rockfield Park.
The Kite Festival is a great time to take part in what many would consider to be an old-fashioned way of passing the time. Patti Sterling, a resident of the Town, has attended the Kite Festival for years with her family and describes the festival as “pure joy.” Patti said of the festival, “There’s something wonderful about being in an open field where everyone is looking at the sky and smiling.”
Each year, young and old alike are drawn to Rockfield to enjoy this special day in the sun. The event is sponsored by the Town of Bel Air in partnership with the APG Federal Credit Union and is free of charge. Many bring their own kites along and they range from the simple to the elaborate. Five hundred kites will also be provided on a first come first served basis the day of the festival courtesy of APG Federal Credit Union if you don’t happen to have your own.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 16th from 10:00am until 4:00pm. Rain date, if necessary, is April 17, 2016.
