The first exhibit of 2016 for the Harford Artist’s Association is now open and runs through February 28th. The gallery, located in the caretaker’s cottage on the grounds of Rockfield Manor, has been open just over five years and features artwork in exhibits from local artists throughout the year.
The first exhibit of the calendar year, which opens in January each year, is the Starving Artist’s Exhibit in which all featured hanging artwork is priced at $99 or less. It’s a great time to purchase an original piece of local art for a very reasonable price. Nancy Lloyd, a watercolor artist who is currently serving as the Harford Artists Association Secretary, Gallery Coordinator and Historian says, “The Starving Artist show is a bit more casual than our other gallery shows, as we present both framed and unframed artwork at a discounted price. But the quality of the work is still outstanding.”
This year’s exhibit features the work of many artists from all over Harford County. Nancy shared that the exhibit includes oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings as well as photography and pen and ink drawings. Sizes of the pieces also vary so you are sure to find just the right one for your home. In addition, the gallery carries original note cards, decorative gourds, and hand-made one-of-a-kind jewelry and scarves all year long.
Harford Artists Gallery is a great place to visit on a winter’s afternoon. The cozy atmosphere and beautiful artwork invite you to linger and the friendliness of the local artists who staff the exhibit will keep you coming back time and time again. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 10:00am – 5:00pm.
